Open the Registry Editor browse to the location of the service and modify the ImagePath value. In my instance it was:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\VBoxService
Value: ImagePath
Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Data: system32\VBoxService.exe
I changed the ImagePath to C:\Windows\System32\VBoxService.exe, restarted the service and reran the Backup which completed successfully.
